Ryanair would look for an alternative aircraft supplier if US tariffs materially affect the price of planes it has ordered from Boeing, chief executive Michael O’Leary said in a letter on Thursday, adding that he would consider Chinese plane maker COMAC.
Wow, people don’t have to fly Boeiing anymore? But what about the thrill of my door falling out?
How long has the 919 been out? Is it longer than the time between the 737 max coming out and the first crash? As far as I know the 919 has not had a fatal accident yet, so if it’s been out longer than that time, then it’s statically safer than the 737 max.
As opposed to airbus?
Ryanair are scumbags. Never flying them again.
He’s been saying that he’d entertain buying COMAC for a while. I’m not surprised, in party just because of Airbus and Boeing’s backlog.
lol what a shit airline
They are operating exclusively Boeing 737 variants ( afaik 600+ planes) to save money by symplifying maintenance and pilot training. Adding another new completely different plane into the mix (one noone outside china knows how to maintain or fly) would add lots of costly complexity and overhead they can do without. They would have to fully switch only to single COMAC plane variant for all future purchases to make it make sense and imo they are nowhere near beaing ready fot that kind of commitment.
thats more a statement on how much tariffs are going to impact costs. that they are considering replacing and/or increasing complexity on their operation.
