Such an awesome editor, I use it regularly to make little repair videos.

Can those be watched somewhere? I love me some repair videos. Cars mostly but other stuff is great too.

I watched the car headlight one. I’m pretty sure it’s not your fault it took longer than specified. The kit should’ve started with smaller grit numbers. They had you start with 2000, I FINISHED the sanding part with 2000 before the polish when I did my own headlamps on one of my cars. Though I didn’t use a kit, I went to a parts store and just picked out the products I needed.

Also if you do need to do it again and want to get a kit again, some have drill attachments, making your life significantly easier. They’re not expensive either.

Anyway, nice video. Hope you’ll continue to make them, though on PeerTube I don’t imagine you getting rich off it. I think having fun and populating the fediverse with content are good goals all on their own.

I liked the drill attachment ones, I might get one next time. Thanks for checking them out, and the feedback :)

Oh for sure, I am doing them just for the fun of putting more out there. I’m a fan of the genre, I find repairing things to be very punk. Makes me happy to see something broken/useless/damaged/worn become useful and productive again.

I use Kdenlive to make Karaoke videos. The kind with text and it animates over the text. Allowing viewers to sing the songs.

Granted… I only started last year and I only have 2 videos and I’m severely slacking off… But that’s besides the point haha… I still did it.

Here’s hoping the update is really good.

I use Kdenlive to edit gameplay videos on my steam deck, it is an awesome no nonsense tool!

Kdenlive is excellent. Probably top of the line in terms of features when it comes to FOSS and just works unlike the probably-better-in-theory freeware alternative on Linux, DaVinci Resolve.

I recently tried iMovie on the Mac to see how it is, just wanted to cut a clip out of a YouTube video I downloaded, and while its interface is much more well integrated, it completely froze during import of the video (I think it tried to transcode it in the background and ended up swapping hard because believe it or not Apple, there actually are workloads you need a lot of RAM for). Kdenlive didn’t struggle at all on the same machine.

I’ve never been able to get GPU acceleration working on a single device with KDEN. “Just works” with Resolve. Not saying you’re wrong, just hasn’t been my experience.

Yeah, GPU acceleration is currently broken. Something something mlt issue. I’m looking forward to the fix but not holding my breath. I can survive on CPU til then, though

I wonder how this compares to OpenShot.

I use OpenShot to trim stuff that LosslessCut can’t properly manage, but whenever I use OpenShot I seem to crash it at least once.

      From my experience, yes.

I used it back when it crashed every other click too, I’ve not had one in the last year or two (I don’t video edit much)

Good to hear that it followed suit with the rest of the kde suite as of late. I used to hate plasma desktop due to instability and poorly implemented features but it’s the only one I use now.
