    Mexico had a land reform in the first half of the XX century in which land was distributed to agricultural workers, that makes many of the poor have a family member that owns a house or a small plot of land.

    Extended family relations also usually result in having someone willing to take you in no matter what condition you’re in. There’s still homeless people but nothing like the US and parts of Europe
