You don’t even need to be a jerk - just having an unpopular opinion can be enough to get you banned here, no matter how politely you present it. The mods and admins are just regular users with extra powers, and they can ban you for fun if they feel like it. There are no real consequences for them.
I have been banned (I use the word loosely because the person I’m about to mention makes a good point that they are not actual bans in a true sense, long story) from a few places just because people thought I was the alt of a former mod who people grew to dislike because she wasn’t allowing Luigi-related content in her community. Alright, so far not a jerk.
Then she got banned from Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works because she mentioned wanting to treat the Elon Musk issue like the Luigi issue so as to not provide a double standard (the modlog reason for these is listed as “nazi apologist”), from Blahaj.zone because someone took the previous thing personally and dug up old jerk interactions from years ago (as in, they were a jerk at that time two years ago but not post-Lemmy-registration), from Lemmy.ca and feddit.uk because she has supposedly a KiwiFarms account that she supposedly registered for naively (while supposedly maintaining she won’t use for anything malevolent, and even then the evidence it’s even her is shotty), from solarpunk because people bashing on her triggered the solarpunk AI (because moderation there is performed by AI), and from several individual communities for her autism.
And then they circled back to me for some of these in order to, again, claim I’m her.
If being banned for non-jerk reasons is the exception and not the rule, then, by definition, there’s some conspiracy going on.
zero
zero instances
and zero communities
srsly it’s not hard just don’t be a jerk
You say that yet I am banned from some dubvee communities that I have no memory interacting with.
This right here.
ml would like a word.
sometimes theres good reasons for bans but people get banned all the time for what should be considered normal stuff
take a look at [email protected] and there’s a long list of bans compiled here
