New Oklahoma law, effective November 1, enforces tougher sentences for child sex crimes. Rep. Turner: "When they harm our children, we will no longer tolerate it."
I imagine there will be companion laws that make “existing as a trans or gay person around a child” sexual abuse.
If child welfare was the priority, they’d be doing something about DHS.
Oklahoma DHS refuses to investigate abuse allegations, and fires workers in retaliation for pointing out things like foster families forcing children to stay outside in freezing weather. (They will also retaliate if, say, you are a CASA and point out that the case worker assigned to a child has zero fucking clue where the child is lol. That retaliation involves spurious insinuations of child sexual abuse, which is why as a trans person who viewed the kid I advocated for as basically my daughter I had to give up on advocating for her for my own safety. Shits fucked and no one cares lol.)
Like I am at the point where I will Aaron Bushnell myself if it takes that to get someone to step in. It has literally drove me insane.
