Symbolic only. Even if the Senate voted for it, it would never get past the House.

Curbing a madman’s ability to drag an entire nation into a conflict with no perceptible end point is just a bridge too far for most US lawmakers

I think you’re being a little bit too optimistic here… it won’t even be voted on.

        Why?

There are enough Democrats to bring it to a vote.

You’re not telling me… democrats support the genocide too? 😱

Most elected Democrats are against this. But hey, I’m sure Lesser Of Two Evils™ thinking is going to stop making things worse eventually.

POTUS has too much power already. Declaring Emergency to bypass the senate in order to conduct war should be fixed.

Not saying this juts cause Trump is a moron, its time to restore some power to the legislature.

I get the feeling this will get shot down because it would hinder weapons sales to Israel or threaten AIPAC money. Politicians who vote against it will probably say they like the idea, but don’t like the wording.

I hope it gets through tho.

Bernie, you have to understand that Israel wants us at war with Iran. And our politicians are puppets for Israel. You can’t overpower Israel. The most powerful nation in history can’t stand up to a tiny nation that requires subsidies to exist.

False. Biden and the Dems spent a year pretending they had no power over Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Our politicians are owned by propaganda. Look at the chud Fetterman. Look at the mayoral candidates for NYC who pledged to visit Israel in the first N days if elected. Our politicians are simps for Israel.

…pretending, because they did, in fact, have power over it. Are you claiming they actually had no such power?

They don’t have the power to act against Israel or deny support for Israeli conquest.

Anyone who gets in the way of Israel’s goals is ousted.

Within 20 minutes of a phone call between Reagan and Begin, in which the former said the bombings were going too far and needed to stop, Begin ordered the bombings stopped.

Virtually every current US politician is to the right of Reagan on Israel.

It’s kinda like that saying: if you owe your friend $100, they have power over you. If you owe your friend $10,000, you have power over them.
