Me (19M) and my ex (22F) just broke up but we promised to be friends. I called her stuff uninteresting and said I acted older than her because she watches dumb shows like anime, Beavis and Butthead, etc. Stupid stuff. I’m 19, I don’t like that crap. I don’t mean it in a mean way, though.
There’s too much real tragedy in life to worry about things like the triviality of one’s (or their SO’s) interests. Enjoy what you enjoy, and let others do the same, especially your partner. Hobbies and interests are important, and minimizing someone’s interests (especially someone that respects you) can have a long lasting effect. Nothing huge, but that slight little doubt you created in their mind will always just sit in the background any time she talks about it with anyone else. Worrying about whether something you like is becoming of your age or not actually is immature. Also: YTA
