Atsumi Tanezaki, the Japanese-language voice behind the titular character in the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, is temporarily limiting her professional activities due to health concerns. Despite this, the voice actor recently reassured fans that she is not stepping away from her critically acclaimed role. ……
Also, this might be old news, but there are new Frieren mini anime episodes on Youtube / X / Tiktok since April, and they are releasing one per month through September. The newest one just released a few hours ago. The whole playlist is here (I don’t know why the order is scrambled).
I mean if you have to work less, but aren’t quitting entirely, you’re probably sticking with the stuff that pays the best.
That said, I’m glad. She was excellent in the first season.
Didn’t know about the shorts, thank you!
Lycoris Recoil is doing something similar. Seems like a smart way to keep people engaged and show the studio that the numbers are strong enough to keep the show alive, but I am a little concerned that the studios might start pivoting to shorter form productions to cut costs
Pretty sure season 2 is contracted already. The shorts are an advertising tool, keeps fan momentum up on a far smaller budget than a special or movie. Crossovers have a similar effect with the bonus of potential new audience.
She played Frieren absolutely perfectly!
I hope she won’t step down from this role but health is the most important thing though. Also the mini anime is really good if you haven’t watched it yet make sure you do!
