What’s the joke?
I think it’s because a Knight/Horse can stay outside a Queen’s path while still threatening her.
It’s also in the position to take out the queen by forcing the king to move out of check.
I love a joke comic that logically checks out.

The knight is threatening two valuable pieces at the same time, forcing the opponent to lose 1 of them. That maneuver is referred to as a fork in chess.
And this special one is called royally…no sorry, royal fork…
