I mean, no shit? In Q1 of this year the total combined wealth of the top 10% of Americans was 107.6 trillion dollars while the bottom 90% had 52.7 trillion (Source). Even if the bottom 90% spent every single penny they have, which they are often forced to do, the top 10% would only have to to spend 50% of theirs to be a trillion ahead in spending
Obviously as you acquire more money you have less need to spend it and your total wealth doesn’t correlate one to one with spending, but at the end of the day you need money to spend money. And only a shrinking number of Americans actually have money
