right, there were plenty in canada and other places. people have a habit of overselling how many went to argentina and let off the other countries that took them in, paperclip, gladio, and nato.
The majority just stayed in germany without being majorly punished generally speaking. I think the next biggest was the US. Argentina is fourth there’s this wide spread msinconception that it was the main haven for nazis but it really wasn’ta tleast in comparison to other places like the us and germany itself. So this person is forgetting history or atleast never studied it well.
The ratlines went all over, and Argentina was a prime destination especially because Peron was deliberately recruiting nazis and was directly connected to nazis in Argentina.
Why are we doing apologia for the ratlines and peron?It’s not apologia ot point out there are places wheremore nazis fled to than argentina, when the post makes it seem lke it was th main place.
You directly said that the claim that Argentina was a haven for nazis is not true. But Argentina had a deliberate policy of catering to nazis.
I said they aren’t the haven, impyling that other countries had larger numbers of nazis in them, and that argentina got leftovers that the us nad othe rcountries didn’t want because that’s what happened.
Goddamn, that’s actually a pretty compelling case…
But on the other hand;
the man wants a ballroom.Could be the latter. Could be the former and the latter. But it’s definitely not just the former.
I said it at the time, when the news was posted that they were building a new ballroom. Does this man definitely actually want a new ballroom? Absolutely. Are people underneath him with a far greater strategic understanding of the political situation than him, using this as an excuse/cover to also upgrade the presidential emergency bunker? Of course. It’d be a waste not to.
