His campaign has not shared his cause of death.
Whelp I’d like to tell you what I think of the article but I couldn’t read it cuz that stupid press and hold to prove you’re not a bot shit doesn’t work. So fuck them.
A Texas Hill Country politician who was running for Kendall County Judge died this past weekend, just days after announcing his political bid, according to campaign officials.
A post on his Facebook campaign page confirmed Mike Luckey’s death late Sunday. The Republican had just announced on Thursday, October 30, that he would challenge incumbent Judge Shane Stolarczyk in next year’s March primary. Justice of the Peace Debby Hudson confirmed that Luckey was found at his home on Sunday morning after 9 a.m. He was born in 1957, making him 67-68 years old.
"I see the County Judge as a servant to the people,” he said in a quote from the initial campaign launch. “This office should always work for the citizens of Kendall County, not rule over them.” The post did not reveal Luckey’s cause of death, and campaign officials have not returned MySA’s request for comment.
The conservative candidate was born on an Air Force base in Oklahoma and raised in San Antonio before he and his wife, Janelle, moved to a small farm north of Boerne. He had lived in Kendall County for 32 years.
According to social media posts, he was a retired Southwest Research Institute principal engineering technologist who “spent more than 18 years working alongside local leaders, supporting candidates, and standing up for the values that make Kendall County such a special place to live.”
A 2010 San Antonio Express-News report on MySA mentioned that Luckey advocated for “sensible leadership” through the Hill Country’s drought concerns while he ran for a seat on the board of the Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District. The campaign page reiterated Luckey’s opposition to government overreach, saying that he was dedicated to protecting local freedoms and voters’ ability to “pursue the American Dream in Kendall County.”
“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he loved so dearly,” the Facebook post reads.
