Electoralism

A place for discussing polls, election results, campaign dynamics, and electoral analysis, qualitative and quantitative, as well as meta-discussion around polling and polls.

Bring data, methods, and specific claims. If you want to argue values or do candidate/party cheerleading, there are better communities for that.

What belongs here

  • Polls (public preffered, paywalled- if the data can be scraped and reposted), crosstabs, trendlines, aggregators
  • Forecasts/models, scenario analysis, win-probability discussions (with assumptions)
  • Election results (official tallies, turnout, swings, maps)
  • Electoral systems, redistricting, ballot measures, primaries, coalitions
  • Campaign strategy as analysis (messages, coalitions, persuasion vs turnout, etc.)
  • Historical election comparisons and “what changed?” breakdowns

What doesn’t

  • Memes / dunk posts / “team sports” threads
  • Calls to action (“vote for/against X”, organizing, fundraising)
  • Conspiracy bait, unsourced fraud claims, or “everybody knows…” posts
  • Personal attacks, harassment, or bigotry

Rules

  1. Stay on topic. Elections, polling, voting behavior, election law/process, campaigns, and outcomes.
  2. Source factual claims. If it’s checkable, link it (official results, poll toplines, methodology, datasets, transcripts, etc.).
  3. No editorialized titles for links. Use the original headline when possible; add context in the body/comments.
  4. Poll posts must include the basics (see template below). Low-info “look at this number” posts may be removed.
  5. Argue the claim, not the person. No insults directed at other users; no “bot/shill” accusations.
  6. No misinformation. Claims about voting procedures/results need reputable sourcing. Repeated posting of false election info = bans.
  7. No spam/self-promo. Original work is welcome, but disclose conflicts (work for a campaign, pollster, PAC, etc.) and bring data/methods.
