This looks really un-ergonomic and miserable to use. Driving with your thumbs? No thanks, I’d rether use a thumbstick or even tilt controls.

Happy to see the first comment on that article points out that this is just the Namco Jogcon again. It sucked then, it’ll suck again now.

If you must play racing games (especially of the more sim variety) with a pad, I always preferred pushing the left stick all the way forward and rotating it along the edge to steer. I find it much easier to dial in an angle that way.

I wonder if an updated version of the Namco NeGcon from about the same time would be a better approach?

$150 is nuts for a controller.

Especially a controller like this that is a “jack of all trades, master of none”. I can imagine it’s not going to be very comfortable for racing or non-racing gameplay than it would be just having separate controllers.

Interesting design, but yeah, seems destined to fail.

In theory it’d be nice for someone like me who does not have the space for a wheel & pedals setup - I built my PC to be able to be put away very easily because I don’t have a desk I can dedicate to it - but I’m not convinced that this would actually be an improvement over a regular gamepad

I also usually use the right joystick for throttle and brakes because I have never found the triggers comfortable for that, so I guess there’s an extremely me-specific problem too
