Zoe Bernstein, the president of the group 'Cornellians For Israel', told the Jerusalem Post about the increasingly hostile campus environment leading up to the threat.
Really? Antisemitism just sprung out of nowhere a couple weeks ago? And Israel hasn’t killed thousands of Palestinians for decades? What does the initial attack have to do with the ceasefire now? After 9/11, the US didn’t just carpet bomb the entire country of Afghanistan. Israel is engaging in collective punishment, killing nearly 8000 people already. Gaza is small and dense, there is no where for the people to leave. Calling for a ceasefire is the only humane thing to do.
What Israel is doing is abhorrent and should be roundly condemned. That does not justify antisemitism. Jews are not all Israelis and Israelis are not all Jews.
Of course, I just have seen for many years the criticism of Israel shut down quickly by claiming someone was antisemitic. The message this post was about, talking about ‘Jews’ is clearly antisemitic, I didn’t mean to imply it was cool or that antisemitism wasn’t prevalent. What I was trying to critique was the OP’s idea that the calling for a humanitarian ceasefire was inspiring further radicalization and antisemitism, which is ridiculous.
Israel isn’t carpet bombing anywhere, I don’t know what false information you’re consuming but the reality is that Israel performs specific, highly targeted strikes in Gaza. Unfortunately civilians die in war, that’s a sad part of every conflict. Israel has given instructions to prevent Palestinian civilians from being caught up in their strikes, and Israel actually cares more about Palestinian civilians than Hamas. Hamas wouldn’t use civilians as human shields and operate out of hospitals and schools if they cared about civilian casualties.
