Given a Texan-Human dictionary, what would a “progressive christian” from there be?
In my opinion, any progressive christian believes in christian values like “love thy neighbor” (with no exception to what a neighbor defines), but does not blab about it.
I’m not from there so I don’t know how they would define it, I just found him interesting and was using progressive Christianity interchangeably with the kind of Open Christianity I see in this community. Depending on what you mean by “not blabbing about it”, your definition seems to match very well to what he says he believes. For example, at 25:58 in the video he says we ought to have the same love for a child on the other side of the world that we would have for our children.
With “blabbing” I primarily meant people who try to reason backwards opinions by quoting very selective bible quotes, while at the same time ignore key messages of the faith.
Like “pro-lifers” who protest in front of clinics performing abortions, but have no problems coming in through the back door because “my daughter made a little mistake”.
Or preachers who own a bunch of limousines and jets to fly around with their mistresses…
