Same. I told my sci-fi interested 13 y.o. that he’s coming with me when I go to see it, and I recommended that he didn’t watch any trailers due to spoilers. If the movie is anything like the book, we’ll both love it.
It will probably be the only film for whch I will go to the cinema this year.

Who gives a shit? Green screen films look absolutely fine.
Some do, some look fucking awful. I notice it most when the lighting on the actor doesn’t match the environment they’re supposed to be in. Other times the CGI background is too in focus so they can show off their work but it makes the scene look flat.
Surely you don’t mean the latest Captain America film that looked like a Command & Conquer cutscene throughout?!

It’s the hype machine. I think I must be the only person on earth who was underwhelmed by this book. Artemis was a lot more fun.
Yeah it was fun but the ending was just eh. Artemis was better.

There’s a great channel with a series “No CGI is really just Invisable CGI” https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB6ZABC2cArGjau4AyBMqVg Talks about how movies are trying to advertise with no CGI, but still use it everywhere.
That and Corridor Crew going behind the scenes showing how much work the artist out into the movies, just for the directors to talk about how everything was in frame and that.
Hell, Godzilla (2014) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) had a similar amount of CGI shots, it was just hidden so well.

Can’t wait for this film to wind up nominated for Best Visual Effects after everyone in the film goes on and on about how the use of CGI or greenscreen makes a film feel fake and THEIR film feels real because they built their own set. As if other films have never used a physical set in conjunction with greenscreen and visual effects to make successful films.
There is no doubt a team of very talented visual effects artists on this film who are being underpaid and overworked. Why are these filmmakers then stigmatising the work they depend on to make their generic popcorn flick?
They aren’t. They’re saying that of the 2010 VFX shots in the film, none are green screen.

The book has been sitting on my shelf for a few years. I’ve finally started to read it and in 2 days I’m already 120ish pages in. I can’t wait for the movie now.
Cue “behind the scenes” documentary showing all the amazing green screen shots the effects team pulled together, including ones you assumed were just in a room on Earth, as rooms on Earth are pretty easy.
Having recently read the book, I don’t really see how there could be.
Maybe the very end of the book, but otherwise yeah.
