I think this is precisely the reason Trump didn’t agree to it, it would have just underlined that reality.
I do wonder if whenever Ukraine is about to make a decisive move European powers “inform” the US of it but in an incorrect or slightly misleading way just to see if russia somehow “magically” figures out the false plan ahead of time.
I am sure it happens all the time in subtle ways that are purposefully difficult to pin down. Like accepting a bugged plane as president from a foreign country and pretending that isn’t a bad idea. Weaponized incompetence in the realm of opsec…
Haven’t they already done this though? Purposefully leaked false intel to the American admin just to confirm that it ended up with the russians? It’s the oldest trick in the book to smoke out a rat, and I seem to remember reading about them doing like a year or two ago.
Europe doesn’t have to give the US incorrect information, they could just give incomplete or delayed information, and it could still have the same effect, while also obscuring the quality of their own intelligence
