        The Italian invasion of Ethiopia I’d say is Russia in Ukraine.

        We’re at the beginning of the appeasement of Trump.

        So. 1936ish feels apt, but … once he goes for Cuba it’s 1939

          I have the Russian invasion of Ukraine as the Japanese occupation of Manchuria. It’s not really a close match because it’s not as much of a proxy war, but it does match with imperial powers expanding their territories to their neighbors
