I lost interest when the Athena landed at San Francisco and turned into a building at the end of the first episode. I quickly scrubbed through the next couple of episodes to see how much time was spent in space, saw none, and checked out.

    Well, it was pretty awful.

Which was surprising because I thought a white label CW teen soap opera was the ideal tv premise to slap a Star Trek label on.

Sad news, but hopefully we will see a spin off with at least a couple of the cadets. I would also love to see Commander Reno on another show.

Honestly probably I good idea. I actually like the show even though it has some flaws, but they really did a speedrun on developing through all the characters biggest conflicts. They just don’t have much more they can do.

Which agenda is it they’re pushing this time? Inclusivity? Diversity? Permission to pee in the streets?

While I’ll be the first to admit that DISCO and Academy was not for me, it’s more due to it departing from the format and world I enjoyed than anything else. Star Trek has always pushed the envelope when it comes to equality and representation, that’s not new.

That’s not “the agenda” though, that’s shitty writing, pacing, and presentation. On that I could, at least in some part, be inclined to agree with you.

It’s not the subject matter that’s shit, it’s how they often approach it. I find it’s important to have a clear distinction between the two. It’s hard to critique a poorly made story when it seems like what you’re objecting to is inclusivity and diversity.

If that happens, people are usually quickly reduced to shouting insults, especially online. It’s infuriating to those who feel seen and included, potentially for the first time.

Are you getting your take from the critical drinker and those loser right wing YouTube channels?

A show like Academy sort of requires 24 episodes a season and at least 3 seasons to find it’s footing.
