I mean at this point, why would they ever relinquish it? They were attacked unprovoked, which has, as a silver lining, granted them the cover to lock down the strait as a tollbooth, and the resource is so critical that most everyone else is willing to pay that toll; it has the potential to be a huge financial help to the state of Iran. If I were them I’d plan to continue that forever, one of their major desires has always been to get sanctions reduced or alleviated and a huge new toll revenue stream that pays them in money they can use to buy goods and tech from China will certainly count as some sort of alleviation.
