A San Antonio favorite for fried catfish and shrimp is reeling it in. The Lighthouse Seafood at 1212 Fredericksburg Rd says it will close on Tuesday, April 7, after 10 years on the West Side."Happy Easter from our family to yours,” wrote the restaurant in a Facebook announcement. “We will be open Monday [April 6] and Tuesday [April 7]. Those will be our last days in operation." The family-owned seafood joint first debuted in 2016, using recipes from their mother. The place soon became a neighborhood haunt for its affordable menu of fried platters, fish tacos, ceviche, and homestyle sides. It was just as well-known for its kitschy murals. The outside features a trio of fish mariachi. Inside, the walls are painted with a vibrant swirl of coral, dolphins, sea turtles, and sharks — an upgrade from the original mint green.
