I don’t mean to be insensitive but we have decentralized media, and you in the US still have a 1 person = 1 vote system. I understand that cash is important in a campaign but let’s not overstate its relevance.

we absolutely don’t have one person, one vote. The electoral college is and always has been about racism and minority rule.

We don’t have a 1 person 1 vote system at all, we have an electoral college system, gerrymandered districts, I mean the republicans can’t wait to delete their political power every November. Half the country is basically held hostage by the confederates.

      Are you fucking kidding me?

The USA is FUCKED because of Citizens United which flooded it with unlimited unaccountable cash.

Look, I’m Iranian. I can absolutely see that the USA has massive problems but the opportunities to address them are there.

Well part of the reason it’s so effective is the median voter will be easily influenced by TV commercials. Debates hardly occur, the people could demand a bit more from themselves and their representative. I am a Mainer and I just spend the last 6 months slamming Janet mills Facebook page talking to anyone who would listen about how her old ass needed to step down. You can get your own blue collar politicians too.

Ya, its definitely not only 1 thing, but it is a big thing.

Reforming the news and not allowing these mega corps to own almost all the stations would also be a big big help.

Yea we really need media monopoly busting and go back to fairness doctrine and fund small community media. We really need to increase civic education, we need to make voting day a national holiday. We need to do so much fundamental shit to save our democracy it feels impossible.
