please keep the body shaming out of this community.

there are plenty of reasons not to like this person. we don’t need to uphold patriarchal standards of beauty.

I mean if it’s a self selected intentional alteration, that’s not the same as someone who has trouble losing weight or who was born with a deformity. She paid money to another person, to alter the way she looks. The criticism she draws was chosen.

Interesting question, is the surgery itself the result of a reaction to the patriarchal standards (as in she is attempting to alter herself due to those external pressures), or is it upholding the patriarchal standards to “shame” (which I suppose in this context means “have a negative opinion or joke about”) them for their choices? And if it is the former, is it still the latter because it is the former?

Truly the “chicken or egg” of our time.

In any case, I will never understand people going crazy with plastic surgery regardless of their reason. Unless they can give me a prehensile tail or the arm from the old Ballpark Franks commercials, then we can talk.

That’s fair, I dunno the kinda toxic shit you gotta moderate. I just don’t see it much, I think, cause it’s already been ratio’d or moderated. My b homie.

Like all right-wingers, when she says, “I believe in,” she doesn’t mean, “these are the principals by which I conduct myself.” She means, “this is how I think others should react to me, regardless of how I conduct myself.”

Lol, I thought she had at least five years on me, she looks rough for her age. Also is she Christian? I could have sworn she was Jewish.

Yeah that’s… confusing, as she has very often and very loudly reminded everyone that she is Jewish.

      Its on her wiki page.

      … ?

She apparently started her ‘anti anti Jewish activism’ in college, a couple of years after 2011.

      … … ???

EDIT: Also, she looks rough because she’s into (arguably pioneered), the MAGA face style of plastic surgery.

It is not slight nor subtle, it is … approaching clownish, basically, like a caricature of a human face.

I think that’s the result of the required republican plasticization for women in the party.

We’re used to older actresses or whatever getting plastic surgery. All the usual stuff from face lifts, buccal fat removal, chin tucks, lip filler and all that. It gives them a certain look.

So when a younger woman gets plasticized she now looks far more like the older women who have had a lot of work done, and that greatly contributes to the “older” look.

That would sort of track for a young ladywith a conservative upbringing.

I do feel like that’s an especially difficult position to be born in. Not the worst of course, but church women have been through or are currently in a high pressured high control system.

I think political parties/organizations (talking particularly on the Right) groom almost all of their public facing people. Charlie Kirk is one example, weird stuff going around with Erika Kirk after he was already taken into TPUSA. Doesn’t make them any less worse people but it’s scary and sad to see

Fuck it I’ll say it… I think she was kinda cute. If she got bullied for looking like that it really shows how awful our society is and what it does to us all. No wonder she’s broken. It could have been any of us, really. Genuinely sad to think about.

I mean… personally, I do not find her kinda cute, but I realize that everyone has different things in different combinations that make people appear attractive to them.

I do totally agree that it should not be the case that an arguably adorkable looking person should be mocked and treated cruelly for their looks alone, but also, I graduated high school not too many years before she did… and well yeah, high schoolers are very often demons with skin suits.

Also… her wiki says her family, her upbringing was pretty violent, and her brother has/had schizophrenia.

So… having been around schizophrenics myself… yeah that can be basically maddening.

I agree that it is a tragedy to some degree, but I feel like that stops mattering as an excuse or explanation when you start to do as much and as significant broad (and direct) harm as she has done.

        On the other hand…

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

She was definitely cute. What happened to fill her with vile hatred I can’t say, I don’t know what she went through. But the cute Laura there might as well be dead now. Replaced by a dark, evil one. And her looks have mirrored the darkness in her soul. It’s a shame that people turn bad. But just like food, it affects the look of it as well. And I understand someone’s personality affecting their subjective attractiveness to you, that’s normal. But she wasn’t always like that. Most people weren’t. It takes some kind of outside force to make someone’s internal views become that shitty, I don’t believe people naturally suck that bad.

In high school, you can get bullied for four years for mispronouncing a word in English 1. “Hey, there goes ex-eno-fobe Joe.”

Her brain finished developing. The prefrontal cortex continues to develop until about 25 years. Which is responsible for decision making and personality. I.e. people can change drastically up until their early 30s while their brain continues to develop.
