Growing up in Texas, crazy when you actually learn the history of the Alamo and realized they weren’t heroes.
You mean a bunch of Americans that immigrate to Mexico, refuse to follow Mexican law, and then get pissy that Mexico wants them to follow the law aren’t heroes?
You left.out the fact that the main Mexican law they disagreed with was the one banning slavery.
Jim Bowie, who died shitting himself in bed, was a straight up slave trader.
Both sides were assholes really. Mexico originally allowed Americans to immigrate to the Texas region because Mexico Government wanted them to cull/exterminate the native American population and act as a buffer state to the US, which the American immigrants were highly effective at doing.
Then the Texans got pissed that Mexico wouldn’t let them own slaves after they helped clear the lands. There were no heroes in this part of history or many other parts, a bulk of human history and modern day are just groups of people acting selfishly with disregard for other human life.
They’re like some sort of anti John Brown, giving their lives in a rebellion to promote slavery.

Texans think themselves Klingons.
“Why are you proud? You lost the Alamo to Mexico.”
“BUT IT WAS A GLORIOUS BATTLE!!”
“Remember the Alamo, Peg!”
“We lost that one, Al”
@Grumpus_Maximus Yeah, forget that place.
