The self portrait is starting to actually look like something now lol! You can see the dog starting to take shape on the left now! If I work from a photograph again like this I might edit the photo a little bit first to make features stand out a bit more but I’m happy with how it’s going
Phenominal work. I just learned embroidery so I can respect how crazy this project is.
Yeah, I generally just work from fairly basic patterns I find online so this is a whole different experience lol it’s an idea I’ve started and quit a few times since I began cross stitching a few years ago I think I just hadn’t quite developed the skill and patience for it yet!
IIRC, there are tools available to derez a photo to specific colors on a grid for this purpose. 🤩
That said, this already looks super fun!
I used https://flosscross.com/ for this one.
So sorry, I’m super new to the comm, and have fond memories of crosstitching my heart out decades ago —waaay before the internets. 🦕
So, the geeky trivia re: computers creating layouts much less batch editing photos for embroidery, etc. sticks in my mind. Of course that’s old news to y’all. 😅🙇🏽♂️
edit: I’m off to go check out that link and see how much a hoop & thread kit is. Thanks so much! 🖖🏽
Happy stitching! I like the Floss Cross site a lot and not just because it’s free lol once you upload an image it gives you a lot of great tools to play with like adjusting the finished size/resolution, how many colors you want to use, and it gives you the option to edit the final pattern before you download it! I hope you enjoy it!
