He might actually be doing them a favour. This way he can’t get himself sent off for a ridiculously wreckless tackle and leave then down to 10 men for half the match.
I know everyone rates him as a very good defender. But the few times I’ve seen him (usually in the NLD) he’s looked very underwhelming.
Even if that’s the case, he’s their club captain.
The club captain being in Argentina while the club plays a game that decides if they get relegated just shows the toxic culture at that club. It must be super painful for some of the Arsenal players who could have been part of the title run-in to not be able to participate because of injuries. But, they’re all there in the stands and on the sidelines.

Presumably so Kane and Watkins aren’t too comfortable?
England really does have a lack of top quality strikers right now. I mean, Kane is definitely world class (much as I hate to admit that). But Watkins is so hit or miss. He’s world class one game and then missing open goals from the middle of the 6 yard box the next.
TBH I don’t know how Toney is these days. I haven’t been tracking him. But I get the feeling i this whole situation doesn’t bode well for England in front of goal. If Kane gets injured Tuchel might be left with a headache. But I hear Rashford did well this season. And there are some very good options on the wings. So maybe it’s not as bad as it looks.
I mean, Kane, Rice, Saka, and Pickford are essential to England. It’s been the case for years now. They’re all so good and the drop off is inevitably huge.
Also Maguire out, which… honestly I’m not sure about.
