On the set piece goals:
They have been most dangerous from corners, scoring 18 goals from them in 2025-26, which is a new Premier League record. It says a lot about the direction of the Premier League that the record – overtaking the 16 scored by Oldham Athletic in 1992-93 – has been broken twice this season. First by Arsenal, who have the outright record, and then by Tottenham, who have scored 17 goals from corners this season.
So I don’t want to hear any more whining from spuds fans about how we score too many ‘boring’ corner goals. They were just a step behind us on that front. The difference is we were good in most other areas as well, while they were shit.
It’s pretty interesting that the the club with the highest number of goals from set pieces is the champion, and the one with the second highest might get relegated.
Well, the tiny tots do feel compelled to copy us. And it happens so often it’s wild. Remember how a few seasons after we brought in Wenger and he started winning trophies they tried to copy us with that professor-looking Swiss coach? He was like the pound shop Wenger. But they didn’t notice how sad it all looked.
So I guess it stands to rain that they saw our recent success with set pieces and copied that. I’m just surprised they were so successful with it, considering how poor they are at most things.
8 x 1-0 wins. That seems low. Isn’t that our thing, there’s a song about it.
The song dates back the George Graham era, which was (mostly) before the Premier League even existed. The song was sung occasionally during the Wenger era, but often it was in an ironic way, because defensive solidity definitely wasn’t a characteristic of the Wenger era.
I mean, it’s a quarter of the season. That’s pretty sizeable.
Raya might beat Seaman for most clean sheets in a season, that’s insane. Though Kepa might play on sunday lol
I thought it was going to be Gunnersaurus in goal.
