Crappy weather today, so no tea photoshoot. (This is good. I'm running low on different teas to show off, so this gives me some more time to get new tea.) Instead today I'm showing off a shelfie of some of my favourite books. These are collections of folk tales from Chinese minorities (plus one book, and not the thickest!, of a very ancient Han epic poem) translated to vernacular Chinese and English. Published by Wuhan University Press they are some of the best glimpses into cultures most people have never even heard of ever put to paper. #China #Minority #Folklore #Collection #Books

These are some of my favourite books: collections of Chinese minority folk tales in vernacular Chinese and English.

They’re a far cry from the “ancient Chinese folk tales” you tend to find written by (usually) British authors who bowdlerize and Anglicize the tales to the point of being unrecognizable.

      Yes. Just a card bookmark (kraft paper with pictures of traditional musical instruments in this case) with the string and bead thing on top.
