Meta has sold 7M+ Ray-Ban glasses that look identical to normal glasses but can record you silently.
NoPeek detects them using immutable BLE manufacturer company IDs — signals that cannot be randomized or hidden unlike MAC addresses.
Detects: Meta Ray-Ban, Snap Spectacles, Oakley Meta, TCL RayNeo, Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, Pico VR and more.
No ads. No tracking. No internet permission. Fully open source. MIT license.
How is this different than Nearby Glasses except the license is less copyleft?
3 things:
-
The name is used by something else, it may or may not matter but now you know it’s there
-
There are no releases but a link to download it?
-
What if any part did “AI” have in this app
The download link doesn’t even do anything. And the readme is almost certainly written by AI.
Judging by the readme, at least the readme, if I had to guess. It has that specific “corporate whimsy” feel to it. I’m okay with that, personally, I hate writing readmes, I get it.
-
I click download APK, nothing happens
Hey, cool idea. I went to the repo, but there’s no releases yet. What kind of ETA you got in mind?
The URL is not a proper link Fixed here: https://github.com/getnopeek/nopeek-android
BLE Radar app should also do this.
