I find the whole of this conversation to be so very pleasing. First you’re posting about something I am actually very familiar with, then oc is posting a game asset that’s really cool, and you’re back again and conveniently have a relevant patent made by your dad that’s the cool crossbow in the comment that only came to mind because you posted a picture of a crossbow. And if I recall, you posted about your neighbor giving it to you the other day. So what are the odds that a guy gives a crossbow to a guy who’s dad invented a crossbow that relates to a crossbow that a guy posts a picture of in a conversation with the son of the guy who invented that crossbow. Is your life just crossbows all the way down?
To add to this nonsense, I had this same model when I was a teen and made the same realization while packing my room to move. I ended up taking a little break and launching all of the spare wooden pencils I had into the field behind my house. I find the wild trajectory of eraser first octagon pencils to be really satisfying. After the move I figured out that you could use a piece of duck tape folded around the back end to effectively fetch it better than the plastic bolts it comes with, though you gotta be good at getting it centered. You can also get a bag of 8in dowels at dollar tree and sharpen them in a crank sharpener. For cheap and disposable bolts.
As much as I loved reading seeing the engineering drawings in this, the patent has your father’s name.

Very nice! I’d say open a bank account and do nothing with it. Just to keep some data on their servers and have them spend money on you for no reason. You could even open a savings and current account and keep transferring a dollar back and forth between them. They need to keep that data and they’re getting nothing out of it.
I had one of these. They’re so fun to plink things with. Surprisingly powerful and accurate for their size. I could hit stuff at 30 feet easily. It was a toss-up beyond 45.
Helps a lot once I rearranged how the sights were originally incorrectly installed…
After I sorted that out, I went and shot it out in the rain like 6 to 8 times or so at a tree, and never lost the bolt…

That is a really cheap little crossbow, Even with the bolts You’re not going to take down anything bigger than a rabbit probably. Stupid rabbits.
