Not to single you out, but there a lot of people here who have never seen the aftermath of a fire before or set foot on a ship who have such strong convictions about this. I’ve posted about this many times, having seen the aftermath of fires (including a laundry fire) on ships in person before and having gone through shipboard firefighting training. This video is consistent with an out of control berthing fire. Those racks (the beds) are made of powder coated aluminum, which would absolutely melt in a class A fire. The mattresses are fire removedant and the issued linens are cotton and wool, but that shit lights on fire eventually.

Yes, but these kinds of fires happen all the time. That’s still embarrassing, but it’s what you get when you put a bunch of stupid teenagers in charge (and then promote the worst ones to the top).

EDIT: this isn’t to say that teenagers are stupid, just the ones that join the military

Would’ve been better to just say it was a freak hit by the enemy. I don’t understand this pride that the military shouldn’t have any casualties. Kinda what it’s there for, no?

Just be like “waa waa this happened because some of them had beards waa waa”
