Race, religion and wealth loom over Ohio’s fierce race for governor.
Ramaswamy’s central message is that anyone can be a part of the American dream if they just work hard enough.
I think many people in Ohio would be willing to vote for a non-White non-Christian person IF they had a message that resonated. Ramaswamy’s current message seems to be “work hard and you’ll succeed” when Americans believe that is not true anymore.
If he could promise something of substance, and present a plan to voters that convinces them he would improve their material lives, I believe many of them would be won over. I don’t hear him identifying any of the problems affecting Ohioans, nor a solution to fixing those problems.
Even if he is capable of luring new jobs to Ohio – if those jobs aren’t with livable wages-- it’s not a benefit.
