Sony has written to customers to advise that hundreds of “previously purchased” digital movies previously available via its online store will “be removed”.

Yep, since the beginning. Made digital purchases only if I could have a backup of the file.
You can. Of course DRM implemented makes the file useless but still.

And this is why I have zero qualms about pirating shit.
That’s pretty much the definition of “If buying is not owning, pirating is not stealing.” I generally don’t pirate stuff, but man if that thing happened to me I would probably just do it out of spite. This isn’t Netflix where you are paying per month for access to the content. You bought the damn thing. Imagine the same thing happening to a game you bought on Steam. People would be up in arms.
Yeah! They won’t do shit, and Sony knows it, otherwise they would’ve done it.
I will be watching “previously unpurchased” movies on my computer for free because there’s nothing they can do about it.
