If you mean added time at the end of the two 45 minute halves I actually think there’s been less of this than usual, given that 3 minutes are automatically being added just for the hydration breaks.
I would need to see some figures on ball in play time. They’ve managed to cut out a lot of time wasting with the new rules, so it might just even out.
That’s a really good point, actually, I hadn’t considered that. Might well be behind the difference I’ve (maybe) noticed.
Its a visual thing more than anything. If they were to pause the clock at every interval I’d prefer it.
In fact there was a proposal by some people (by memory Wenger was involved) that we do so and have 2 30 min halved which is an idea I love.
The practical playing time of teams is around that point naturally.
So we pause the clock everytime the ball is out of play and continue it again once its in play, eluminates time wasting. (Momentum can still be broken, this doesnt fix that)
But when you know there will be a +3 after 90 mins you have a sense of anticipation around the 85th min mark, it becomes exciting.
With 10 mins added its just boredom. Ruined that exciting end.
“Stoppage time in
soccerfootball is the additional time added at the end of each half to make up for delays during regulation play.”Like the bullshit VAR call against Egypt?
Nah, one look at the VAR screen and you should know that it was going to be cancelled, that rule is old at this point.
It was only bullshit in the sense that other minor fouls like that one haven’t been called this tournament. As an individual decision it was fine. It was clearly a foul.
I’d like to know why the screen says +7 and then the game keeps going without any update.
