      No. They are the Kempeitai (Japanese version of the SS basically). Officially they were anti colonialists and wanted to free Asia from European colonialism. In practice it was a front, they were just taking the colonies for themselves. The joke basically is that being anticolonialist without being Marxist is futile or often hostile and will create other issues

        You are generally correct but I feel like it’s a little harsh to use a Kempeitai as the example. There’s been a lot of good anti-colonialists who haven’t been Marxists. Of course, it’d be better to be a marxist, but people like Sun Yat-Sen, Sukarno, Toussaint Louverture, Sinwar, Patrick Pearse, etc. Were still progressive
