The journalists were near the village of Sinjil north of Ramallah to cover the one-year anniversary of the killing of Saif Musallet, a Palestinian-American who was beaten to death by Jewish settlers, last July.

Within minutes of arriving at the location where Musallet was killed, Israeli settlers descended on the area. As the CNN team and other journalists tried to leave, a group of four settlers blocked the road with their car and tried to keep the vehicles from moving forward.

The four settlers were wielding wooden and metal rods and stones. One settler brandished a knife and tried to puncture the tires of CNN’s vehicle.

The settlers then began to jump on the vehicle behind CNN’s — carrying another group of journalists — and smashed the windshield of that vehicle. Another group of settlers tried to block a separate exit route before chasing the journalists towards the town of Sinjil.

As an off-note, it was a different situation back then, but seeing this suddenly reminded me of a report on tv I saw 15-20 years ago.
It was a long time ago and I don’t know why the memory was triggered now, but it is a slight case of deja Vu.

As most should know by now, in Europe, Roma people have been an “issue” for centuries now. Their nascent culture is migratory, so every time they moved to a place, it made the nearby villages wary and distrustful and the situation usually ended in violence.

The TV report was about a rather large group who decided to settle somewhere permanently. It wasn’t their land legally and they attacked anyone going near, including the reporter. Kinda like those isolated tribes deep in the jungle or on random islands…

The authorities let them be since it was easier to keep track of them that way than to try and follow their routes.

Was there a point to this comment? Well, another comment here is saying “Zionists are subhuman trash.” It’s the same thing some people are saying about the Roma.

Don’t do that. Don’t bring yourself down to that level. It’s quite likely the same thing they’re doing to Palestinians and all the other neighbours.
    It’s not worth the degradation.

It’s already happening. But institutions move slowly so they’re behind where the public is.

CNN wouldn’t be reporting this story if they were completely in Israel’s court.
