US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday elicited instant ridicule after he unveiled a new plan to offer military personnel testosterone injections.
In a video announcement, Hegseth said he was authorizing a screening program to ensure US soldiers “have the right testosterone levels” to perform at their “absolute best.”
This isn’t gender affirming care, it’s gender coercive care. Forcing people without symptoms to get a test for low testosterone is clearly pressuring people to “fix” their T levels, regardless of whether that makes sense for them. If it was about health they’d let their doctors address it on an as needed basis.
Thank you for putting to words the reason why I felt it’s not correct and harmful to the trans community with the “gender affirming care”. It’s technically correct, but it’s using trans people as a bludgeon

That’s a good point. As though “maleness” was directly related to testosterone levels. I wonder if they’ll do the same thing for female troups, but I doubt Hegseth is even aware of them.
Is there even anything to fix? I’m not an endocrinologist, but I thought that other than in very specific cases, all those people were doing just fine. They’re just fantasising about what testosterone is.
Being real, the kind of people who sign up for the military would likely love a legal and free way to dose testosterone.

wait. he wants to put soldiers on steroids! I worked in a lab that made blood diagnostics for testosterone. It was kept in double locked freezer/refrigerator so two people had to unlock it and all testing had to have two people unlike other assay teams. I mean alot of work could be done alone but if you were use actual testosterone it required two.
