They don’t feel sorry for themselves. They make it happen.
You need to be part of something bigger than yourself. Nobody in the resistance is afraid to die because they are not one person they are part of the whole.
This is a good answer. We need to be sure we’re not trying to fight bougie individualism with liberation individualism; we’ll end up perfectionists instead of revolutionaries if we do.
I think of Yemen often, in a similar way of admiration. They stand alone in their bravery. Of all those who could have, they were the only ones who did make any direct military intervention to the palestinian cause.
But it’s a nation of 33 million people and you can only be 1 person. A collective and an individual are different. The real question is how can you contribute towards creation of a collective with such moral fortitude as Yemen.
Credit is due to Hezbollah too though. They hammered the north of “israel” for more than a year, only stopping to regroup after the assassination of Nasrallah.
Its true, Yemen isn’t the only armed force to contribute. I was thinking of official, national military bodies. Because the OP was about Yemen. I dont think Lebanon did much to put itself in the middle of things?
Oof, Lebanon has just capitulated over and over again, like a good little comprador state.
Exercise, firing ranges, organizations, on bravery specifically, baby steps, find small scary things that you can handle and work your way up. The point is that these are all skills or similar, and skills can be developed, people aren’t just masters at things, it takes time and work, and what you do is what you get better at, if you sit around, you get better at sitting around, if you break the mold, you get better at breaking the mold, an example for me recently, I started participating in this sort of “Socialist Summer School” type dealy, and during the first class they did this thing called a “breakout” where zoom threw me into a room with 3 random strangers, I have crippling social anxiety but I still managed to talk with them, it was scary but exhilarating and I’m excited for the next class.
it takes time and work
Can’t stress that enough!
Congrats on the summer school, I’m extremely proud of you! Good work! ✴️🏆
Thanks for the words
