This.movie is such a masterpiece. One thing tho, is that when it was released here in Canada, the trailer kind of led people to believe it was a children movie. It definitly isn’t. I remember people leaving the packed theatre with there kids when I saw it.
It’s a kids movie in the same way that the original Grimm’s and Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales were kids stories.
So they just ignored the age rating?
And the door person didn’t follow the law either?
I’m not sure how it happened but I can guaratee you it did, I’m not inventing stuff just because. It was in Quebec, IDK how the movie was rated when it was released here but it what full of 10 years old in that theatre.
Wow it’s been 20 years since Pan’s Labyrinth? Ouch lol.
Love this and Nolan as well publicly telling the AI chuds to pound sand. You just know they have talentless idiot suits badgering them about it
Huh, I expected Nolan to be pro-AI, his politics generally align with chuds
I am friends with someone who was pretty involved in that big wave of stereo madness and 3D conversion years ago. There is huge range in quality for stereo conversion depending on how much the director cares and the studio is willing to spend.
Fun fact, Clash of the Titans (2010) was such a shitty, low budget conversion that “release the kraken” was an industry term for, “this is a shit, rushed, cheap job.” There’s a lot of variables unique to stereo filming and most directors don’t understand it or care. For awhile many studios were just trying to cash in on the fad. Bad conversions can, at best, mean it looks like paper cutout shit and, at worst, give people headaches and make them sick.
Guillermo del Toro really cares. “Pacific Rim” is considered a very well done conversion. They even did things in the conversion that you couldn’t do with a typical dual camera setup, like warping the depth offset to exaggerate the height of the robots (sort of like forced perspective, but with depth). You have to be very careful with interocular distance, convergence, depth of field, and keeping things consistent from shot-to-shot so people’s eye muscles aren’t screaming after 10 minutes.
I was honestly never into 3D, but I don’t doubt him when he says its a good job. He was probably actually in dailies. There’s as much directing that can (and should) go into stereo as any other sort of shot design.
oh boy, mitch mcconnell in 3d
ha ha ai bad
Correct.
Lol, but you’re doing a 3D release cashgrab?
In 2026, who still wants this?
It might be appealing to people who have never seen the original before.
Or who have never watched a 3d film before.
no one ever wanted this 3D has been dead since the 50s
