Article from last year but I prefer buying stuff like this after it’s been out for a while because I can them cheaper. So I find the older articles helpful.
why would they put a camera in an ebook reader? and why does it have a fingerprint sensor to unlock it? and why does it cost $400? I can’t imagine spending that much when a Kobo is $150.
There are soooo many of these that add all kinds of stuff. It’s annoying. I just want to read novels, that’s it. Which is why most all of my readers are under $150. Most are in the $50 range when I buy on ebay. lol
I ordered the Xteink X4 today, which is about the same size as the Boox one, and it doesn’t have anything fancy. It just displays books you can read. That’s it. Cost me $55. I get it sometime next week.
I received my Xteink X4 two days ago, immediately installed the crosspoint firmware on it, and I’m surprised by how much I like it. It’s actually quite a bit smaller than most phones, but I can still read it no problem. And yeah, the purity of “it just displays text” is very nice.
I’m still waiting for mine, and crosspoint will go on it as soon as I get it. But ugh, mine doesn’t arrive for another week! I wanna mess with it right now! lol
