Wouldn’t he get an even faster time if it used the inside lane? Like it’s allowed to do in this type of race…
When you run in the outside lane, you start a little further around the track, so the total distance is still 400 m. Generally, in races <=400 m, you stay in your lane the whole way, and in longer races, you are allowed to cut in after a certain distance.
