He has no reasons. He doesn’t think beyond bullying. His handlers and backers however appear to be a death cult.

I don’t share your confidence of their confidence. Weakening the US economically, isolating it from allies, destroying herd immunity and public health, bringing back formerly extirpated/eradicated diseases and pests.
The rich and powerful are not protected from this. The opposite of win-win is not win-lose, its lose lose.
I agree that they’re not protected and I doubt they ever considered that it would turn around and bite them in the ass eventually.
Their perspective doesn’t allow them to realize that they’re ordinary human beings too so they “know” that they’ll be fine.

I wish people who are being played would understand they are being played. Trump has very good reasons for these tariffs - market disruption and opportunity for insiders to make big money and he applies and lifts, increases and decreases week to week.
They didn’t help but they were happy about it. They probably just needed a little more convincing and less threatening, and they’d have happily joined its big brother like an excited todller.
