MONTCLAIR, Calif. – A truck carrying an estimated 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer was stolen in Montclair in what may be the biggest beer heist ever.
The stolen truck was loaded with what is equivalent to more than 50,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Pabst has publicly addressed the theft through social media, expressing frustration while urging the person responsible to return the vehicle and its cargo.
In an Instagram post, the company wrote: “STOLEN - 40,000lbs of beer.”
The post continued: "To the thief: we don’t fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way.
The company gave the thief an ultimatum.
“Pabst is officially starting the clock now - you have exactly 18 days and 44 minutes to return our truck, no questions asked. Leading up to that time, we will be offering a reward to anyone who can help us solve this mystery.”
Because everyone measures beer by the pound.
Eastbound and down, load ‘em up and truck ‘em. Oh we gon’ do what they say can’t be done. We got a long time to go, and a short time to get there. I’m eastbound, just watch ol’ bandit run!
Well, it’s US beer, so no loss. Thin, watery, smells awful. It’s shit.
It’s like stealing a truck full of instant ramen.
The thieves drank it all, got a slight buzz, and returned a truck full of empties to Pabst.
Or fulls, because ewww
Who the fuck measures beer in pounds?
pabst
If they measured it by retail price, it wouldn’t be an attention grabbing headline.
“Robbers steal $2100 in aluminum scrap. Also some beer.”
After writing that out, it occurred to me: isn’t the truck itself worth a shitload more than the beer?
The diesel in the truck is likely worth more.
Oh no! Thieves stole $200 worth of PBR!!
"Pabst is officially starting the clock now - you have exactly 18 days and 44 minutes to return our truck, no questions asked.
That’s oddly specific. Is there some sort of meaning to that timeframe, or has ABC/PBR joined The Onion?
The company was founded in 1844.
The entire press release seems weirdly jocular, to the point I wonder if the whole thing isn’t a publicity stunt.
I’m probably reading way too much into it, but it’s giving 14 88 vibes.
At least its not Heineken!
beer heist
But

Which one is it?
