I would like people to reject celebrity culture in general, but I know it’s pretty embedded; that is, the culture of following rich people’s lives because they entertain you and thinking “haha, they laughed at that part in the edited interview, they’re just like me!”. They are like you in that they’re also human. But from there, the interests and perspective diverge. They’re special to you, you are a faceless fan number to them. They are rich, you probably aren’t. They want to protect their wealth, you want to survive and be able to retire someday. This means they are far more likely to side with power brokers who work against you. So why look up to someone who doesn’t even know you exist, doesn’t know you much less care, and will probably side with people who want to exploit you.
Mind you, I’m not saying “abstain from all e celeb content!”, but people need to be aware of the realities of the dynamic. The realest allies are going to be found among the people you organize with. Not by magic, but because bonding over shared struggle has far more lasting strength than showing up in a viewer count, which is at best a sort of hallucinatory imagined bond.
I mean tbf I wouldn’t expect someone who hasn’t talked about Palestine yet to suddenly decide to speak on it. Especially someone with such a large platform. Nobody cares about some YouTubers words anyways at this point, far too little and far too late, if he ever did care he already would’ve been talking about it in 2023

there seems to be a fandom wiki, and you can use those sources if desired. there might be one inaccuracy with the above posters statement, sunok’s parents were the ones who moved from north to south Korea prior to the korean war allegedly.
