The product images don’t portray an accurate depiction of color E Ink
i was going to say that’s a way brighter colour than my Kobo Libra eink colour screen
From the article: The product images don’t portray an accurate depiction of color E Ink, but there are better pictures on the Bemi website.
Does not interrst me though since I’m lookin for something with a pen.
my Kobo libra colour eink has a pen.
A pen needs a bigger device to be useful though for note taking or markup on PDFs etc IMO and the lags to slow for drawing then which might make a smaller device useful eg like say a Samsung Ultra phone with stylus etc or a Motorola Fold with stylus
i use it mostly for highlighting and occasional notes but you can do 80% of that with your finger.
the libra has buttons, great but that also makes it big , not so great (i use to pocket my ancient Kindle, cannot do that with the Libra and the charge indicator is shitty
Sure. It just needed to be said here because the misleading image was posted here.

Well not so much “posted here”, as much as I just posted a link to the article. If there is a misleading image in the article, that’s not my issue.
Not that you are accusing me, but I just want to clarify in case someone misreads that.
I don’t see a need for color e-ink anyway though. I only read novels and stories, so I’d never pay extra for color e-ink devices
I see, it might just be my Lemmy client that selected that image as the one to display/embed.

I would love good color e-ink, but unless I’ve missed some recent developments, the state of the art is still “looks like you bought a $50 tablet from Wish.” Good screen contrast, one could argue, is the point of e-ink, and having to turn on the backlight in many lighting situations and still get bad colors just negates all the benefits of the technology.
Yep, it’s just Lemmy doing that. All I did was post link to the article.
I’ve been following e-ink since it was first introduced, and I’ve just never been impressed. You do have a good point about the backlight, but I’ve never seen the color devices as worth the extra cost. Looks like it may be a tech limitation though, since they have been trying to get color to work right for years. And they never get it right.
