I Have A Beak And I Must Scream
In its natural state: screaming at something.

“Get off my lawn!”
Now that nesting season is over they’re extra vocal.

And a bonus because it amuses me

Hello, disguised crow!
Cue rabbit hole of looking up the Corvidae family tree to work out how closely related they are to the “Eurasian” Jays I’m familiar with. Especially as that beak doesn’t look very crow-like. TIL - current hypothesis seems to be they all came from Australian (well, Australasian) origins!
The hypothesis is that the Corvids / proto-Corvids came from Austalasia, really?
Btw, if I recall aright, there are other birds called magpies and jays that are not actually corvids.
I acknowledge/blame Wikipedia :)
Magpies and Jays are in the Corvidae family, but not in the Corvus genus (from the same source, but I’m pretty sure I could back this bit up with real paper books). So, colloquially, corvids, but not true crows.
No, I’m talking about birds like the Australian magpie, the Magpie-lark, Jay-thruses and the Black magpie. These and others are evidently named that way because they resemble Corvid Jays and Magpies, but aren’t actually Corvids at all.
In fact that kind of thing is quite ordinary when it comes to common names.
Ah, hadn’t come across those before - but I now see what you mean!
Skronk!
So beautiful.
At a first glance it looked like birb has really long legs on the first picture.
