Yeah I wonder how many of these “historical” records are just Greek or later Roman propaganda.

And then how much of the propaganda was really projection too?

Then one likely outcome is he’ll get licked. I don’t think humans taste good.

Came home one day to find that I hadn’t properly sealed the Advil bottle and the cat had knocked it over and licked the sugar coating off of every pill in the bottle. He stopped as soon as he got to the ibuprofren, though, and showed no signs of poisoning.

Rather like pork, by all accounts. And well within the range of things that bears think taste good.

I wonder if that’s different now. Like, a squab is a pigeon, but there’s a huge difference in how it tastes based on what it eats.

People today don’t generally eat super well, more often engage in recreational intoxication (alcohol, caffeine, nicotine or whatever, they all probably make the meat taste bad), experience more frequent periods of intense stress, and are way more sedentary than they were when most of those reports (afaik) were made.

Timothy Treadwell had been warned that he was getting too close to the brown bears in Katmai National Park, but he continued interacting with them.

Then, in October 2003, he was camping in Alaska with his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, when he was attacked. Huguenard trained in vain to save him, but the brown bear that had mauled Treadwell turned on her, too. By the time help arrived, they had both been partially eaten.
