There once was a man from Switzerland
interesting how far apart Vancouver/Seattle are from Portland OR
wetter than New Delhi
Dalianhas the person making this ever met westoids before
why would any of them know anything at all about India or China, let alone their weather patterns (especially if they don’t even know Europe, which is why this map is supposed to even exist in the first place)This map was made for the very specific type of person who is familiar with all of the world EXCEPT europe (this type of person literally doesn’t exist, there isn’t a single such person on the planet) That said, it’s still pretty funny, and there are worse maps out there
I read Dalian first and thought “like… in China? Surely not-oh there’s Johannesburg… and Christchurch. Ok.”
I’m fairly geographically astute and this map is a reach for me. The wetness of New Delhi and the coldness of Nagoya are beyond me. I’m too poor to know the climate on Nantucket. New York isn’t known for its heat. The choices generally seem off for helpful comparison.
Also, isn’t Anchorage notable for it’s comparatively mild climate for it’s latitude? Without looking in to it I’d have thought Murmansk would have more severe weather. And Portland as Istanbul? Hmmmm
Anyway idk I guess I’m Milan
I actually understand everything about this map perfectly. I just also correctly understand that there isn’t a single westoid who knows the climates of non-europe and doesn’t know the climates of europe. Like that person literally cannot exist, I’ve never met a single person even regardless of race/nationality who didn’t know europe’s shit
However, even ignoring this, it’s still a shitty map because it says nothing about rainfall distribution. Euros can only understand cold season, dry season is a novel concept for them
Southern Portugal is mild all year? What?
Apparently Adelaide, Australia is mild all year yet Perth, Australia has hot summers.
Adelaide is slightly cooler than Perth in its average temperatures by month, and it gets nearly 1/2 the average annual rainfall yet Adelaide has a little💧in its place on the map. (Also about half the average rainfall of Lisbon.)
For reference, Adelaide is the driest capital city in Australia and it’s about as dry as cities like Ankara or Cape Town - not arid but far from being a rainy city.
Cool Map
I refuse to believe Seattle is like France.
Beem to both so I’d say kinda accurate. People are nicer in Seattle at least.
Those northern Falkland Islands sure are cold this time of year
Glad to see NZs most important city, Timaru, well represented.
