  • Just keep away from non-stick materials if you’re worried pretty much. For pans I have two cast iron ones and a stainless steel one, they work for pretty much everything. I have a large enameled pot for large stews, a couple of glass and metal trays for the oven and otherwise just aluminium pots for things that aren’t fried (and also popcorn). I used to do the teflon and non stick ones pans for a while as my partner insisted it was necessary but I got tired of having to chuck the pan after a couple of years as it started peeling off into the food. The only non-stick one we have now is a rice cooker.

Also, the old wisdom about how you can’t use washing up liquid for cast iron is bunk, the modern stuff works just fine (it is something that has stuck around from when there used to be lye in the washing up liquid).

  • No, they embody the condescending, self-satisfied and annoying stereotype. It is a real phenomenon. Carl Bildt may be the apotheosis of that specific kind of guy (though he also genuinely sucks 99% of the time). The people filling that stereotype in Swedish media are preppy Finnish people.

The reverse is kind of true for Danish and Norwegian politicians or police in Sweden where they are invited to tell us why we gotta get more racist and get hailed as truth tellers for saying it.

  • This is how Swedish people are used abroad. Someone who will be for something that is good but does it in a condescending, self-satisfied and annoying way so that the people hearing it double down on not doing that. One of the reasons that hearing the Swedish accent in English (in Swidin wi donnt do dat) makes my skin crawl. Even if they are not actually being condescending, self-satisfied or annoying they will be framed as if they are (such as Greta Thunberg).

It is either that or the classic bikini babe.

  • And perhaps the most interesting implication in all of this: this international, loosely connected network of secret gentiles are portraying Jews in the best possible light by behaving as caring, humanitarian, antiapartheid peace activists… whereas ‘real’ Jews oppose a ceasefire, support the forced separation between Palestinians and others, and prevent aid from reaching them… I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from that one.

This assumes that a zionist would see being caring, humanitarian peace activists as a positive trait rather than weakness.

  • I hope that someday American policy will shift in their favor

This is emblematic of the liberal shitstains I see supporting Contrapoints in this. Went on the socials to check and it is the same top down arguments that lead some to think that civil rights were won because politicians decided to vote for it out of the kindness of their hearts or that the 40 hour work week happened because capitalists cared about their workers. HOW THE FUCK WILL THE POLICY CHANGE IF YOU CANNOT EVEN BE CRITICAL OF IT. If everyone in the USA has to be pro-Zionist why would the policy change?

It is such a myopic worldview, if things aren’t achieved on a 6 month timespan they are worthless and you did nothing but turn off the sensible white moderates. Contrapoints herself is arguing that the pro-Palestinian option was genocide under Kamala Harris as ‘harm reduction’. That is all her support amounts to, feeling a bit sad and not even trying to agitate for the rights of Palestinians.

  • Condemning the genocide and saying (and probably also giving) money to charity is just an emotional balm to couch that she doesn’t really want to do anything about it.

The thrust of it is that trying is useless and personally bothers her. She knows that her liberal allies in the Democratic Party don’t give a single fuck about Palestine and has thus decided to just be sad about it while chastising people for trying to do anything. She supports Zionism because it is supported by the wealthy, and because it doesn’t affect her directly. She only sticks her neck out even slightly beyond what the wealthy liberal consensus is when it comes to things that personally affect her like transphobia.
